Prospective Staff Invited to Attend Meet and Greet for Upcoming Film

Kamloops, BC – June 12, 2023 – The Thompson-Nicola Film Commission (TNFC) is advising area residents who are interested in working in the film industry of a meet and greet with a company planning a local film production.

The crew behind Lupe Q and the Galactic Earthworms is looking to hire as many local film staff as possible for their upcoming production. Filming is expected to take place in August 2023 within the Thompson-Nicola region.

The meet and greet will take place on Tuesday, June 13, 2023, at 7pm at the YKA Film Office, located at 755B Tranquille Rd in Kamloops.

Director Javier Badillo will discuss the upcoming film and answer questions. Badillo is a writer, director and producer of Venezuelan and Canadian descent, and his first feature film called Roads of Ithriyah was filmed in the Kamloops area. Roads of Ithriyah was released in 2022, and was nominated for five Leo Awards, including for Best Motion Picture, and won in the category for Best Sound – Most Picture. The annual Leo Awards recognize the best of the film and television industry within British Columbia.

“We have been working with Javier since February, identifying potential locations that could work for this incredibly fun script,” said Terri Hadwin, TNFC Film Commissioner. I am very happy to be able to finally have Javier back in our area, and looking forward to taking him and his team to the places we have been showing them pictures of, and also being able to give TNRD residents the opportunity to meet with him in advance of his casting and hiring of crew.”
